Jody Rubel

JOdy began his Tai Chi study in 2006 at The One Drop Zen Center on WHidbey Island WA. and continued at The Long River Tai Chi School. He is ATCQH level 2 certified and experienced teaching form, sword and Dai LU.

JOdy graduated Brandeis with highest honors in Anthropology but became disenchanted with the academic mindset, which he considers 'colonizing' and trapped in the rational. In Tai Chi, everyday practice is an encounter with mystery, an opportunity to listen to and learn from new stimuli with sensitivity and curiosity.

FOr jody, the most innocent thing we can so in the practice is 'Wu Wei' or 'non-do' which is a far different experience than forcing our bodies into specific movements. For jody, "force' is equivalent to academic knowledge while pouring weight along with gravity and working the resulting spiraling energy into alignment is Innocence in action; the rhythm becomes tidal, each step a whirlpool. Awareness of the axis is all that is necessary to feel the CHi sink and consequently to rise up the spinal ladder to the crown.

Since 2000, JOdy has been active as songwriter and band leader for SIsterMomnk and Pickles & Cream.
